In front of the newly renovated façade of the five star Monopol Hotel, illuminated in a splendid way by the multicolored searchlights, a red carpet was laid down. Among the vintage cars parked by the hotel you could admire a Rolls Royce Phantom II from 1933 and the luxury antique cabriolets.

During the artistic part of the evening the guest invited to this grand opening watched the musical show Letters form Monopol directed by Zbigniew Krysiewicz and based on his own writings. The choreography was arranged by the Modern Dance Group (Scena Tanca Wspolczesnego) from Krakow.

The dance party accompanied by both, live music and a DJ, lasted until dawn.

The highlight of the grand opening ceremony was the fireworks show, admired by a few hundreds of the guests gathered for this special event on the spacious terraces on the roof tops of both historical buildings. For 10 minutes, the sky over Wroclaw was covered with the golden mosaic of fireworks.

The important part of the ceremony was visiting the hotel, the most interesting were the suites open for the guests. The center of attention was furniture designed by the famous designers, to mention a few: Le Corbusier, the Californian married couple Charles and Ray Eames and Mies Van Der Rohe.

The banquettes at the Likus Hotels and Restaurants ceremonies are famous for the dishes served to the guests. The food samples, prepared by Krzysztof Zurek in Monopol, accompanied the guests wherever they mingled.

In the renovated five stars hotel there are 121 rooms, including 8 suites. All of the rooms were designed individually. The coexistence of the modern architecture and the gothic style is especially visible on the north side with the continuity of the buttress rhythm, soaring pinnacles and the finesse of the traceries of the gothic church block. Once again it has been proven how the sublime and innovative interior design is complemented with an old, historical matter, and the newest technology supports and completes the old substance of the facility, and all of this in line with the law requirements of renovation. The utmost care has been taken to ensure that all of the conveniences important to the modern tourist are present.

There are two restaturants in Monopol: Monopol Restaurant that serves Polish Cuisine and Ristorante Aquario with the Mediterranean Cuisine. The highest quality of food served here is guaranteed by the fact that the restaurants of Likus Hotels and Restaurants group have been honored with the most important international culinary recognitions. The Aquario’s newest offers are the fish and sea food dishes. Other places in the hotel tempting your taste buds are two bars and a coffee bar. The desserts and the chocolate are traditionally hand made on site.

For the business needs there is a conference center with four air-conditioned rooms.

Monopol has also a very well equipped Wellness & Spa Center, with the fitness center, counter current swimming pool, hydro massage, fountain and wet steam sauna with an option of aromatherapy. Even in a five star hotel, the newest thing is a traditional Turkish hamman. There is also the salt and iodine cave with the walls built from salt blocks coming from the Dead Sea.

The big come back has been made with the department store, famous before the war and not present for many years after the war. The lower building of the historical complex, ended with a restored round corner tower, covered with a fantasy helmet, is home for another Likus Concept Store, like the ones in Krakow on the Main Square and in Warsaw nearby Krakowskie Przedmiescie. After many dozens of years the tradition of great trade of this place has been restored. The luxury shops like Likus Fashion Concept can be found in the shopping arcade. The grand opening of the Wroclaw LCS is planned for May 2009.
