STET DOMUS HAEC, DONES FLUCTUS FORMICA MARINOS EBIBET ET TOTUM TESTUDO PERAMBULET ORBEM – Latin proverb, engraved at the entrance of the palace guarantees that nothing will change for the centuries to come. “May this house stay here until the ant drinks all of the sea water and the turtle ends its route around the world”.
The hotel is located in the old palace of Prosper Provany, the manager of the mail services at the Zygmunt August court. In spite of the reconstruction according to the classicistic style, done by le Brun, a beautiful renaissance portal was preserved in its pure form. To honor the emperors of the Russian empire who stayed in the hotel at the beginning of the XIX century, the hotel was named “Russian Hotel” for over half of the century. After the failure of the anti-Russian uprising after 1863 the hotel took the name “Pod Roza Hotel” (“Under the Rose”).
The four storied building, remodeled and adjusted to the standards of a modern hotel, offers 57 rooms (7 suites included) for its guests. Every floor has its unique atmosphere, from the representative official form, to the cozy modern arrangements. Colorful polychromes on the walls, tiled wood stoves, beautiful wood floors, sophisticated decoration with a repeated rose motive, bathrooms finished with natural rock, are the witness to a great hotel tradition built throughout the ages. Every room is equipped with a telephone, satellite TV and mini bar.
From the window you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Old Town church towers. You will find the view of the Krakow rooftops especially attractive from the fitness room and sauna which is located on the top floor with a glass wall. Under the glass roof, two elegant restaurants are open in the place where the old courtyard used to be. Each one has its own style, decoration and service. On the weekends, the guests can enjoy the piano music.
During the summer, the Wine Bar in the gorgeous hotel gate is a temptation for every passerby, and the Vinoteka in the basement is open for the Bacchus drink lovers all year around. Here you can taste over 300 types of Italian wine, cheeses and regional Italian deli meat. Handmade wine glasses are the proof that every detail is being taken care of. Every weekend music concerts, from classical to jazz, are an additional attraction of the hotel’s offerings. It is in the basements of the Pod Roza hotel that two famous singers, Grechuta and Demarczyk, used to perform.
The hotel offers services for its business guests. Professionally equipped, two rooms, that can accommodate 40 people each, are a great place to organize meetings and receptions. The history of these multimedia conference rooms dates back to the beginning of the XII century. The rooms are located in the basement and are air-conditioned for your comfort.
