The buildings used by Likus Hotels and Restaurants are exceptional because of their historic and architectural value. In the rooms and the apartments you can admire original medieval frescos and wooden renaissance beamed ceilings. The restaurants are adorned with gothic ceilings and columns.
Award of Appreciation
Stary Hotel is the winner of the prestigious contest of Prix Villegiature in the category of “ the best hotel interior architecture in Europe” („Meilleure architecture intérieure d’hôtel en Europe 2007”). Copernicus Hotel is the only hotel in Poland with a membership in Relais et Chateaux, the association of the hotels taking care of the most demanding customers. The wine cart of the Pod Roza Hotel was recognized as one of the best in the world in Wine Spectator ranking.
The history is in the old walls as well as in the memories of the great people visiting the hotels. Among the great visitors of the Hotel Pod Roza were Zar Alexander I, Liszt and Balzac. Two great Polish singers, Grechuta and Demarczyk, performed here. A few hundreds years ago, the astronomer Nicholas Copernicus would stop in the building that today bears his name, and just recently two other famous people, president Bush and prince Charles were added to the list of the guest. Before the II World War, the great composer Szymanowski stayed in the hotel Monopol in Katowice. Also here, the wedding reception of the two world famous stars, Polish tenor Jan Kiepura and Hungarian actress Marta Eggerth took place. Marlena Dietrich stayed in the Monopol hotel in Wroclaw and the director Andrzej Wajda shot his famous scene for the movie “Ash and Diamond”. The visit of John Paul II’s and Benedict XVI’s entourage was a big event for the Krakow Stary Hotel and the dinner for the Japanese Emperor Akihito was a highlight for the Pod Roza Hotel.
