Copernicus is the winner of the 15th World Travel Awards

Copernicus Hotel of Krakow, one of the Likus Hotels and Restaurants group, has been chosen the winner of the renowed international competition World Travel Awards 2008 as the best hotel in Poland. (1st place in the category: Poland’s Leading Hotel).

Copernicus is the winner of the 15th World Travel Awards in the category of Poland’s Leading Hotel.

Copernicus Hotel of Krakow, one of the Likus Hotels and Restaurants group, has been chosen the winner of the renowed international competition World Travel Awards 2008 as the best hotel in Poland. (1st place in the category: Poland’s Leading Hotel).

Besides Copernicus the candidates for the 1st place in the final run up were: Dwor Oliwski, Podewils of Gdansk, Wentzl of Krakow and InterContinental, Westin and Le Meridien Bristol of Warsaw.
This first place is the next award won by Copernicus Hotel, after the recent Forbes Magazine recognition for the most elegant hotel in Poland (please note that all three first places in this ranking were taken by the Krakow hotels of Likus Hotels and Restaurants group).

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the enormous achievements in all sectors of the global travel industry.

Travel professionals and their clients have come to regard the World Travel Awards as the best endorsement that a brand named travel product could receive.

Candidates for nomination are based upon the previous year's voting. This is the world's most comprehensive travel awards ceremony, with trophies awarded in all areas of this immense industry which is todays travel industry . Voting is cast by travel agents in over 190 countries around the world.

Hundreds and thousands of votes each year are registered online at the official World Travel Awards website, with most of the leading travel internet sites offering additional online voting facilities. The awards of this years 15th edition of the World Travel Awards were given out in Poprad of the Slovakia Tatra monutnains region (the ceremony took place on October 15th).

The Wall Street Journal defined the awards as the Oscars of the Travel Industry. The exceptionally careful choice of the nominated candidates is emphasised also by the catch phrase of the competition: Travel Excellence Guaranteed.The important potential of the competition is also proven by the sponsors from the world contemporary media giants:
